This should allow you to reach through the collet and drive the end mill out of the collet releasing internal pressure on the collet allowing easy removal of the collet. The Benchmaster is a good little horizontal mill, but it is little. The vertcal head for these is rather limited IIRC. You can convert any of the smaller horizontal mills to a high speed verical head like the Rusnok. (1/4hp, "Y" collets up to 1/2", 280 - 4800 rpm, and 1.5" of quill travel.)

Cast bore 1.525" 11878 oversize OD (National 471354) TIMken 710154 1.5 OD. Lower inner seal. Original is a metal-clad felt seal sandwiched between the casting and the bearing race. The bore is rough and the horizontal outer surface is not flat. Cast bore 2.05" x 1.180 shaft. 30x52x7 metric seal would work.

01-16-2010, 11:07 AM. The Benchmaster is a neat little machine and quite capable. It came in several variations, horizontal and with a vertical head. The MV-1 designates a vertical mill, the vertical head might have gone missing, and just the horizontal capability remains.

03-12-2009, 10:47 PM. Dunno about a full manual, but you can or could, get the parts manual off the site. Go to the archive, and look up Benchmaster. The proprieter also sells manuals, and might have it, although I understand he is "not cheap", and is in the UK as well.. CNC machines only go through the motions.

Jul 1, 2010. #15. The lack of a quill on the Benchmaster is both a blessing and a curse. Having to use the knee for Z movement is inconvenient for drilling or tapping but the spindle has maximum rigidity without a quill. The limited head room means that a lot of work has to be fastened directly to the table.

The Clausing has turret swing, (side to side), the Benchmaster does not. The Clausing has Z feed on the spindle, (like a drill press), the Benchmaster does not. For a small mill, 6" X 18" table, the Benchmaster is stout and very works well within it's limitations but it's not a baby Clausing.
